With only Covergirl and Red Carpet left, I figured now is as good a time as any to make a collection of each of our portfolios so I can give my thoughts, and what I think our strengths and weaknesses are. Call it the judge in me, but I can't help but look at everything with a critical eye!
When it comes to yours truly, I've learned that I'm actually not that much of a model, as bad as that sounds, HaHa. When looking at my portfolio, all I see is a pretty girl that has a good understanding of themes. When it comes to posing and actually being "modelesque", it's just not as good as it could be. I mean seriously, in half of my shots I'm just sitting on my ass. Yes, I look fabulous, and yes, the themes are obvious, but where's that "Wow!" factor Amanda keeps talking about?
However, one of my biggest strengths I would have to say is the variety in my portfolio. Of the remaining girls, I've clearly featured the widest range of fashion, and that's always been incredibly important to me. I've not only included great shots with dresses and pants / jackets, but I've also managed to include lingerie, a swimsuit, and even nudity. I also think I'm really good at making the designers' clothes and accessories look fantastic, which is ultimately a model's number one priority. I've also managed to show several different hairstyles, and I think I've shown a nice collection of different settings as well. |
In Survivor, we'd call Katie the "floater". She's honestly just floated through the competition, never really wowing anyone, and never really crash and burning either. As far as her actual look, I think she's the prettiest girl remaining in the competition, and I love how many different expressions she's given us, but when it really gets down to it, the word that embodies Miss Katie is BORING.
Looking at her collection of photos, it's almost impossible to figure out what the themes are supposed to be, and the settings in her shots are for the most part completely bland. She has given very little variety in fashion, but she has managed to rock quite a few different hair styles. The only full body shots she's submitted in this game are of her sitting, so we don't even know what she looks like from head to toe when she's at her full height.
However, I must admit that I do see a model here. She always delivers something interesting in her expression (even if it slightly misses the mark), and I do think she's great at posing, though I would have liked to see her push things even further (especially in her "High Fashion Cover" and "Countries" shoots). Oh, and I must admit, her "Muses" photo is one of my overall favorite shots of the season (nothing to do with the theme, just as a photo). |
Liv, the little engine that could! I knew she was going to be a powerhouse this season, but I've gotta say, some of her photo choices have really got me scratching my head. That Lord of the Rings promo shot, the Inspector Gadget disaster, and the Manly Mime photo are all shots that I wouldn't in a million years feel comfortable submitting in a modeling competition, but I think the fact that they worked so well with the themes made them a lot less painful.
However, even with all of these weak shots, I think she more than makes up for it time and time again when she proves how well she can move that body, and perfectly capture almost any emotion with her face. I do wish she could have shown us more than one hairstyle, but maybe it's her trademark and shouldn't be messed with, HaHa. I actually don't find Liv Tyler to be that attractive, but in most of her shots, I think she's managed to find angles that really do work for her. |
I look at her portfolio, and without a doubt, I see a model. In fact, I think she's better at modeling than any of us remaining in the game, whether it be high fashion or commercial. She is a master at translating emotions through her poses, and though her expressions tend to be pretty generic, I think her "High School" expression is probably my favorite of any model in the game (I can't help but smile every time I see it). I do think she struggles with the themes from time to time, but even when she misses the mark, she still makes sure she looks gorgeous.
As far as giving us stylistic variety, I think the settings tend to be quite boring, and her hair has basically stayed the same throughout. I do think she's given a nice variety of fashion though; including everything from spandex to arm warmers(?) to lingerie. I've gotta say, when I'm purely going by these portfolios, I think she's the girl to beat at this point. |
